English Test
Take IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, or another accepted English test.
Higher scores = more migration points.

Skills Assessment
Get your qualifications and work experience assessed by the relevant Australian assessing
authority (e.g., Engineers Australia, VETASSESS, ACS, CPA Australia).

Submit Expression of Interest (EOI)
Create and lodge an EOI through SkillSelect.
This is not a visa application and has no government fee.

State Nomination (if applicable)
Apply for state nomination if pursuing:
- 190 Skilled Nominated Visa
- 491 Skilled Work Regional Visa
Not required for 189 Skilled Independent Visa.

Receive Invitation to Apply (ITA)
Wait for an invitation from SkillSelect.
Selection depends on points, occupation demand, and migration quotas.

Lodge PR Visa Application
Submit your visa application within 60 days of invitation.
Upload all supporting documents.

Medicals & Police Clearance
Complete health examinations.
Obtain police clearance certificates (India and other countries where applicable).

Visa Processing
Department of Home Affairs verifies your claims, documents, skills assessment, work experience, and points.
10
PR Grant
Receive visa grant (typically Subclass 189 or 190).
You become an Australian Permanent Resident.
